The Haze

The haze is coming back to Singapore again. This is due to Indonesia using slash and burn methods for farming. What is slash and burn? It’s an agricultural method used to burn down trees and plants to create farmland. Indonesia has been using this method for years, and it always causes problems for Indonesia’s neighbors, Singapore and Malaysia. Slash and burn causes haze, which is not healthy. Last year, the PSI (pollution standard index) in Singapore reached a record 400. As for 2014, the haze is back in Singapore, a little later in the year. A few days ago, the PSI hit 435 in Riau, Indonesia, so Singapore is preparing for the worst.
